After being away from the marina for a week (doing the Key West Duval Krawl with our rowdy friends, more on that later), we returned to Dreamer at her current port in Stock Island Marina in Key West to find a cool 124′ triple masted tall sailing ship, s/v Peacemaker.
While it has been blowing hard out of the north for days now, keeping most in port, Peacemaker enjoyed a nice sail down the coast from Miami to Key West. To our delight, she was also open for free tours!
Everywhere you look there are lines! It takes a minimum of 15 crew to sail her.
She is a barquentin rigged (three masted sailing vessel), with 10,600 square feet of sail area.
The mizzen sail alone dwarfs our 32 foot boat!
I think I could enjoy hanging out on this bow sprit underway, watching dolphins surf the bow wake.
Nice salon for relaxing with a good book 🙂
Several stained glass interior door windows.
Traditional wheel in a magnificent deckhouse.
The “watch” schedule, and flag station.
Exterior side rail.
Built of Brazilian hardwood, she has an interesting history which you can read about here (and, she is currently for sale to the tune of 3.5 million!).
