Sailing the Gulf of Mexico!

A beautiful day to make our way north along the Florida gulf coast from Marco Island to the San Carlos Bay Area.

The gulf can be nasty as we saw when leaving Key West, but with the right conditions, it is an awesome place to sail. We had 14 – 15 knots SSW, full sail, nice beam reach! Headed to Estero Island on the southern point of San Carlos Bay.

We hung out here a couple of days … Ok, more than a couple of days, more like a week indulging ourselves in The Pink Shell Resort Marina. We won’t bore you with a bunch of lounging by the pool/beach drinking piña colada pictures … Suffice it to say, it was nice.

i think having your boat based out of this area could prove to be a very nice cruising ground.

For now though, this crew is headed back to the east coast and north back to the Chesapeake for the summer.

We are missing some good old Chesapeake raft-ups, and hanging out with family and friends.
