A Summer of Maladies

Where has the summer gone?!! It has been 3 months since our last blog post, and I’ve heard some of you are wondering where Dreamer and crew had gone. We are still here and itching to get back on the water.

A Chesapeake raft up one summer weekend of the past.

After a year sailing the east coast from Maryland to the Florida Keys, parts of the Gulf coast, and back to Virginia, we arrived at our home port of Deltaville on the Chesapeake Bay in late May. We were looking forward to enjoying some of our great Chesapeake sailing destinations. Unfortunately, the great goddess of radiant health, Aegle, was not on our side, which kept the crew dry docked and Dreamer collecting barnacles on her hull for most of the summer.

It seems one crew member is enjoying his time off the boat (and enjoying some spoiling at “grandma’s” house).

The rest of the crew, however has not adapted back to the landlubber lifestyle very well. After several emergency room visits, one for each of us, two urgent care trips, and a knee-surgery crescendo for Debbie (darn standup paddleboard), we are keeping our fingers crossed for some much improved health and some cool Fall sailing.
